It was with a twinge of sadness that we skied our last runs. Referring to the 2020-2021 season as a year full of challenges would be an understatement. Nevertheless, I consider us privileged to have been able to practice our sport and hold training sessions. A winter for Tremblant that can be described as warm and a spring that was particularly sunny and pleasant.
I would like to begin by thanking all the athletes for their cooperation. The uncertainties, the suspension and then the resumption of training sessions and you knew how to adjust in an exemplary way. You followed the instructions that were imposed on you, despite the inconveniences this could cause and you brilliantly rose to the challenge of completing a training season without any races while keeping your motivation. The progress made is remarkable for the majority of the athletes involved. Well done!
Thank you to all of our coaches who rose above all the adjustments that were asked of them. Mandatory attendance, COVID symptom surveys, Protocol Police, schedule changes and so on! Thank you for allowing all of our athletes to have the opportunity to train in a different, but very respectable and beneficial way.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to our head coach Jocelyn. Without him and his magic, nothing could have been possible. He knew how to adapt throughout the season to the changing measures imposed by governments and public health, to support our coaches, to be present for our athletes on the snow and above all to listen to my requests that were sometimes a little “too much”…and why not another timed duel training for the last day…when his planning was done! He showed extreme resilience. THANK YOU JOCE!
A thank you to all the parents and volunteers. Thank you for taking your children to the slopes, getting them off their electronics and their TIKTOK! … especially to those who had children in various age groups and were taxi drivers more than normal! Thank you for being extremely generous with your positive feedback throughout the season. These comments fueled my passion and inspired me to keep pushing to keep our athletes active. Thank you also for your generosity and participation in our first virtual event: Dinner with our Champions. Thank you for your support when asking for help. I know It was not always easy to be on the Covid Brigade!
A special thank you to all members of the Board. This year was an exceptional year in terms of the number of meetings we had to hold to constantly adjust. The creation of committees has also allowed us to move forward on several issues and to put in place a structure to ensure the sustainability of the club. Thank you for your time, your commitment and your energy.
I would also like to thank our external partners. First, Station Mont Tremblant without whom this season would have been impossible. Thanks to them, we were the ski club in Quebec (possibly more than the Quebec team or regional teams) that managed to have the most training on snow. Also, thank you to Gary Yee, our awesome photographer. He contributed greatly to our 9th place finish at the Mackenzie top Peak contest!… he also captured moments with his “shots” during training, put smiles on our children’s faces and created our team photo “COVID Mosaic”. An original idea inthis different year!
I would have liked to have been able to create an opportunity to thank you individually in person at a year-end party, a BBQ, a tour our newly renovated basement or other, but we will have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, we want to acknowledge the resilience of all the athletes, and underline those who distinguished themselves by their commitment, effort, rigor, respect and sportsmanship in this particular season. All the values of the club that are dear to us!
We will be hosting a virtual event, AWARDS EVENING on May 1st at 7:00 PM, PLEASE JOIN US!
The season is not quite over for everyone. We are currently working on a year-end survey that will be sent to you at the end of April. We invite you to participate in large numbers.
Jocelyn is also working with his coaches to send each athlete an end-of-season evaluation. Keep an eye out!
The club is evolving and growing. We are now active 12 months a year. Another season is already in preparation. We are still looking for new sponsors for next season. There are only a few days left if you want to see your brand image on our new ski jackets. Please contact me.
A year on snow has just ended…. WITHOUT ANY POSITIVE COVID CASE…. A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE…. Wishing us all a 2021-2022 season more like a normal season. We have many great projects in mind.Stay healthy, stay fit!HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
