DON’T FORGET OUR COACHES

Many of you have asked us about the best way to show your appreciation to the coaches for the great ski season we have had. Since the season has unfortunately been shortened, and we have not had the opportunity to do an end of season event just yet, many of you have not been able to hand deliver this little end of the season gift.

If so, we wanted to let you know that you can visit the COACH ‘S CONTACTS section in the Sportlyzer app to find your child’s coach email address. You can then, if you wish, send them a greeting card, a monetary contribution, a gift card or others. We know it will be greatly appreciated.

GOGGLES FOR DOCS

Take the dust off those old goggles. The Mont Tremblant Ski Club has decided to support the initiative Goggles for Docs. We invite all our members et the ski community ( including all other ski clubs) to participate. Following an initiative from 2 skier-athletes (Alice Marchessault (équipe du Québec) and Marina Vilanova ( ex member of MTSC and currently skiing for University of Vermont) and the support from Dr Nathalie Kouncar, we will be collecting as many goggles as possible.

We have prepared a box on the club balcony. For security reasons, a special process has been put in place (every pair has to be put in a separate Ziploc bag (see the link below)).
https://gogglesfordocs.com

Also take this opportunity to bring you race bib from the season (U14-U16).

Come from a walk to the club but keep your distance. Spread the news not the virus!

NEXT SEASON UNIFORMS

Le Magasin de la Place assured us that they will have enough inventory of the ski club uniforms for the 2020-2021 season. So you don’t have to reserve your Jacket and pants for next season. We will let you know when they are back in business.

Dear Members,

Our ski season ended far too abruptly and too early for all members of the Mont Tremblant Ski Club. Over the past week, I have had conversations with many people, from the most alarmist to the most optimistic. For a few days, we were still hoping to be able to put on our ski boots and skis before the snow disappeared, but with the latest information, this seems like a more and more remote possibility. Unless you have a ski slope in your backyard and you can install a chair lift (or use a ski-doo!), it seems as though we will have to wait a few months before being able to once again enjoy the pleasures of skiing (Station Mont-Tremblant is asking us to not access the slopes).

Several items were left unresolved. Below are some clarifications regarding some of these items but additional details will be shared in the coming weeks.

– Missed training days: This subject will be discussed at the next CSMT board meeting in April

– Uncompleted volunteer days: This subject will be discussed at the next CSMT board meeting in April (those registered for the Eastern Championships will be attributed their volunteer days)

– Return of U14 and U16 bibs: We will be installing a mail slot at the chalet of the Ski Club in the coming weeks. Ideally, the bibs will be dropped off there, otherwise they can be sent by mail to the club’s address.

– Jackets for next season: Orders must be placed this spring for next season. We are waiting to hear from the Magasin de la Place regarding the procedure for placing orders (by phone and online) and deadlines.

– Spring Camp: Project put on hold.

– Selection camp (on snow): Possibly postponed until next November.

– Selection camp (physical evaluation day): Date to be determined later in May or June *.

– Spring physical evaluation day for ALL ATHLETES-MEMBERS (New project of the Alpine Committee): Date to be determined later in May or June *.

– End of Season Recognition Event: Initially scheduled for April 4, possibly postponed to May or June, not canceled for the time being *

– CSMT Golf Tournament scheduled for June (New project): Postponed

(* We are considering the possibility of organizing a “Super Weekend” (non race!) which would combine several activities, obviously depending on how the situation evolves).

I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the great season that the Ski Club had before this sudden ending. Over the past 2 years, the members of the CSMT have worked to establish a mission statement, a vision and a set of values for the club. Over the past 5 years, our head coach has put together a great team of coaches and programs to help each athlete reach his full potential. Over the past few years, the board and the committees that have been put into place have helped the club evolve as a whole. I am confident that all of these efforts have helped elevate the club to a whole new level of excellence. This winter, I was PARTICULARLY impressed with the level of improvement shown by EACH ATHLETE over the season. Regardless of the program chosen, the bar has been raised in an impressive manner. The performance of our young athletes who qualified for the Provincial and National Championships in all age groups (in unprecedented numbers) is only one example of the level of excellence of the club. There were many other athletes who could have qualified and others who made remarkable progress and whose work ethic was impeccable. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL for your commitment. By pursuing these values of respect, effort and rigor, commitment and sportsmanship, we will all continue to rise up!!!

It goes without saying that I must acknowledge the parents who contributed to the club, not only by “delivering their children on time” in the morning (even if certain young people found a way to get lost and to arrive late at the meeting point), but also for all of the volunteer days that you have completed this season in order to help us, once again this year, host races that were, according to feedback from the DTs (technical directors) “RIGHT ON THE MARK” ! THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS.

We have several parent members at the CSMT who are health care professionals. I would like to extend a special thank you to these parents, who are directly on the front lines, for all of their sacrifices and efforts to help us get through this period of uncertainty for all.

It is during challenging times like these that we hope to inspire our youth to be strong and resilient. Take care of yourself and your families, stay active and healthy in body and spirit … We all hope to see each other in person again soon.

Wishing everyone a great Spring season!

PARKING – IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Despite previous messages, we are still observing significant problems with parking at the ski club.

It is FORBIDDEN to drop off or pick up your children at the ski club, under any circumstances.

The reasons for this rule are as follows:

Ambulances have a priority right of way and we must respect this rule by ensuring that the parking lot is easily accessible.
The safety of athletes and coaches is jeopardized when there are too many cars in the parking lot.
We have observed risky maneuvers as well as high speeds in the parking lot.
There have also been reports of scratches and damages to cars in the parking lot.
There are several drop off areas available for athletes
Additional pairs of skis (rock skis, 2nd pair of skis) should either be left at the bottom of the mountain or carried by the athletes to the ski club, either on foot or by using the ski lifts and by skiing to the club.

If the problem persists, we will consider implementing a penalty system.
We are also considering the purchase of surveillance cameras, at the expense of all members.

We are counting on everyone’s cooperation.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

From the coaches:

1) It is important that the athlete’s skis are well sharpened before each training as this has a direct impact on performance and learning.

2) It is important for each athlete to be suitably dressed so that he can ski for 2 to 3 hours. Layering is a good way to stay warm. The U14’s and older should be wearing their skin suits at all times.

3) Having a good breakfast in the morning will provide your children with all of the energy needed to keep warm during training and to ensure adequate performance throughout the morning. (It is important to include protein and fats in their breakfast.) Please limit the carbohydrates.

Message from the mountain:

1) Please comply with the skiers’ code of conduct when you are on the slopes with the public.

Please keep in mind the first value of the Club: RESPECT: I respect my colleagues, coaches, parents, equipment, sponsors and the skiing public at all times. I am ALWAYS an ambassador of the CSMT.

WANT TO KNOW MORE

24H TREMBLANT: $132 916 was raised by the 5 junior teams of the Mont Tremblant Ski Club for the 24h Tremblant this weekend. WOW! We are very proud of their involvement within this organization! Thank you to the many generous donors.

LAKE LOUISE WORLD CUP: Two of our valued volunteers traveled to Lake Louise to help the course crew at the the Women’s World Cup races. It was not easy as more than 80 cm of snow fell over the weekend. Congratulations to Kelsey Mullins and Bevin Schmidt for their involvement in the sport. As they said : “Volunteering, it’s not work we HAVE to do, but work we GET to do!”

MEZZANINE: Thank you to all those who are using the mezzanine for lunch. It is important to keep this area clean so that we can continue to use it since it is a great privilege to have this area reserved for our exclusive use. Remember that we all represent the Club and we should be proud of it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

SAFETY ON THE MOUNTAIN: At this time of the season, there are very few runs open and a lot of people. Good behaviour of the athletes on these runs is important, especially on the beginner runs (Nansen and Petit Bonheur). The coaches are required to ensure compliance with the code of conduct of the mountain. We also ask for your cooperation to help us with this initiative. Please note that the ski patrollers are now authorized to confiscate your athlete’s ski pass if they believe that the athlete is not complying with the code of conduct of the mountain. In certain cases, your child may have to go see Jocelyn at the end of the day in order to have his pass returned to him.

Code of conduct: https://maneige.ski/en/mountain-code-conduct

NEW THIS YEAR: The mezzanine on the 2nd floor of the Grand Manitou will be reserved for the EXCLUSIVE use of the Mont Tremblant Ski Club. There is a door from the gondola giving direct access to this area which will allow the athletes to leave their bags there in the morning. Please do not leave your bags under the illuminated sign. We would also ask that you remind your athletes that it is important to pick up after themselves and to dispose of their garbage before going out.

PARKING AT THE CLUBHOUSE : Reserved for the exclusive use of coaches (season pass) and occasionally and on an exceptional basis for specific and temporary needs (visitor pass required).

DROP OFF AT THE CLUBHOUSE: For safety reasons, NO athlete can be dropped off at the parking lot of the clubhouse. There are several drop-off areas: in front of the Sommet des Neiges hotel, at the bottom of the Cabriolet, behind the Magasin de la Place. Let’s start the season off on the right foot!

MANY THANKS FOR THE BAZAAR

We would like to say a big thank you to Danièle Milette for her leadership in the organisation the 1st edition of the MTSC BAZAAR and also thank you to her team. The event would not have been a success without the contribution of all the families who brought equipment and gave a second life to that equipment, but also of all the families from the club and outside the club that visited the Bazaar and bought items. Sales were over 17 000$ and a net profit to the club still to be finalised. A great success for this 1st edition!

SONDAGE BAZAR – SURVEY FOR USED ITEMS SALE

Sondage Bazar

*****

The Club’s governing board is always looking for new ways to finance CSMT activities. We wish to organize a used ski equipment sale this fall. We believe many families have good quality equipment the Bazar team could sell on consignment. A winning formula for all parties!

We would appreciate your opinion! Please fill out the survey below. Thank you!

Hello dear parents, summer is upon us and it’s the perfect time for your child to prepare for the next race season. Physical training during the summer and fall will allow the ski racer to have a better physical condition during the ski training sessions.
This will be beneficial for the following parameters:

higher-intensity workout volume
injury prevention
better coordination / balance and speed of execution of technical gestures.

I invite you to consult the following document to help you supervise your young people adequately for an effective training program during the summer and fall.

SÉLECTION DES ATHLÈTES CSMT 2019-20
CSMT ATHLETE SELECTION 2019-20

* Sélectionner les jeunes démontrant des aptitudes compétitives et un potentiel de développement;
* Faire du processus de sélection un outil d’apprentissage constructif pour les jeunes.

i. Technique de base;
ii. Qualité athlétique en ski;
iii. Prise de décision;
iv. Aptitudes compétitives / motivation / effort

2) Tests physiques au terrain multisport (St-Jovite) (date à déterminer)
a. Évaluation des aptitudes physiques telle que:
i. Endurance physique;
ii. Rapidité de mouvement;
iii. Équilibre, coordination et flexibilité

*****

The Mont-Tremblant Ski Club is once again organizing a selection process for young
racers wishing to join the Race Club. Given the limited number of places available, we
are forced to make selections.

Two objectives govern us:

* Select youth with competitive skills and development potential;
* Make the selection process a constructive learning tool for young racers.

The evaluation will be carried out in several stages:

1. Ongoing ski evaluation at a 3-day camp (2 mandatory days) 5-6-7 April 2019
a. Assessment of skiing skills in various situations and terrain
i. Basic technique;
ii. Athletic quality in skiing;
iii. Decision making;
iv. Competitive skills / motivation / effort

2. Physical tests at multisport field (St-Jovite) (date to be determined)
a. Assessment of physical abilities such as:
i. Physical endurance;
ii. Speed of movement;
iii. Balance, coordination and flexibility.

RENOUVELLEMENT DES PASSES DE SKI POUR LA SAISON 2019-20
LIFT PASS RENEWAL FOR 2019-20 SEASON

INVITATION DE STATION MONT TREMBLANT

Bonjour,

AN INVITATION FROM STATION MONT TREMBLANT

Good day!

As you may know, Tremblant launched this week its 2019-2020 winter season pass offer, which is similar to this season’s. In addition to the Ikon passes, the Tonik Pass will be offered by Station Mont Tremblant again next season.

Ikon Passes
Ikon Passes provide unlimited access to Tremblant as well as access to 37 other iconic destinations. 2018-2019 Ikon adult and young adult pass holders who are renewing for the upcoming season will benefit from a special renewal rate, while new pass holders are offered unlimited spring skiing access for the current season at Tremblant, from April 8 to 22, 2019. The children’s promotion is also back and can be applied to a maximum of 2 children per adult. Also, payment for the Ikon passes can now be made in Canadian dollars and published prices include royalty and taxes.

Tonik Passes
The Tonik Pass gives access to 113 days of skiing and 3 flex days for use at any time, even during the holiday season. You can view the 2019-2020 calendar now. Once again, the Tonik peewee, child or youth pass gives access to the slopes at all times when it is combined with a Snow School seasonal program or a registration to the Club de ski de Mont-Tremblant. Tremblant is proud to encourage family sport and the next generation of athletes.

Express Line
The Express-Line option for CSMT athletes can be purchased separately in the fall at 50% off the regular rate . For Montagnards members registered with the Club de ski de Mont-Tremblant, the Express-Line option is free.

Privileges
To fully take advantage of the mountain, the Tremblant Privilege Bundle can be combined with any pass. This bundle includes access to First Tracks, 20 hot chocolates/coffees, a tune-up and much more for $59 per child or $79 per adult, plus royalty and taxes. Please note that Montagnards with an Ikon, Ikon Base or Tonik pass have free access to First Tracks on the days their pass is valid. Montagnards will be getting all details of their privileges this spring.

Feel free to contact our call center at 1-866-356-2247 if you have any questions and don’t forget to take advantage of the best rates before April 24.

ESSAYAGE ET RÉSERVATION DES UNIFORMES 2019-2020
UNIFORM FITTING AND RESERVATION 2019-2020

For members who have not made a reservation by Sunday, March 24th, the distribution will be made on a first come first serve basis, depending on the remaining inventory purchased by the Magasin de la Place.

A committee of the board of directors analyzed various possible options for the uniform for the next seasons, and the board decided to continue with the Colmar company for its quality and the warmth of the coats, combined with the wish to keep the uniform consistent with previous years.

The new model for next year is slightly different, with no visible external seams. The coat and pants have improved zippers. In regards to the color patterns, there are no changes.
